Creating Rural Leaders
While the best leaders seem to have certain in-built character traits and specific personality types, Sefton & Associates believes it is possible to train, nurture and equip people to become effective leaders.
Creating Rural Leaders is a leadership program designed by Sefton & Associates particularly for organisations who want to build the capacity of their key stakeholders. The course takes participants on a journey to understand their own leadership style and learn how to effectively use and strengthen their leadership skills.
“We challenge participants to be bold and brave and think big. That’s where they’re heading.”
Meeting the needs of rural and regional leaders
Designed especially for people living and working in regional, rural or remote Australia, the course addresses the challenges and opportunities that face existing and emerging leaders in country areas.
The program has been structured around 12 key modules and can be tailored to suit the objectives of any organisation looking to up-skill their new leaders and / or develop the strengths of their existing people. A critical stage in delivering the package for any client is tailoring the program to meet their industry, stakeholder and budgetary needs. We have the capacity to offer what a client needs from a one-day refresher course to a six-day live-in program.
Course Outcomes
Creating Rural Leaders motivates individuals to see themselves as a leader and be confident to take a step up to help their workplace or community achieve success.
The course develops participants’ skills, confidence and knowledge and builds their capacity to be effective leaders. But building individual leadership skills brings wider benefits as the new leaders contribute more actively and effectively in their industry, workplace or community.
Participants will leave the course motivated to take on leadership roles and responsibilities having had the chance to practice their skills and develop their experience.
How do we achieve the outcomes?
The Sefton & Associates leadership program is facilitated by 2002 Rural Woman of the Year, Robbie Sefton. As a leader in her own right, Robbie is well equipped to guide course participants on their own leadership journey and inspire them to achieve. Robbie creates a welcoming and encouraging learning environment in which everybody has the opportunity to be heard.
The course structure includes a mix of key note speakers, theory and practical exercises. Sefton & Associates draws on guest speakers relevant to the industry, organisation and location of the course using their own established network of contacts.
“There’s so much more to rural and regional Australia than the drought and hard times you read about in the media. There are people living here that have the ability and capacity to make a significant difference to all Australians in the next 20 years.”
